Birds of Brown Clee

New for 2021! A birding tour of Shropshire’s highest, Brown Clee.

Topping out at 540m or 1770ft, Brown Clee contains several areas of discrete habitat, from mature woodland and landscaped parkland around the base, to scrub, heath and open moor higher up. On this leisurely walk we’ll visit these habitats, searching for resident birds and summer visitors. Typical species we can expect to see include wood warbler, redstart, pied flycatcher, tree pipit, cuckoo, wheatear, raven and many more.

This walk is perfect for any active birder or general wildlife enthusiast, from absolute beginner to the more experienced. We’ll cover approx. 5 miles over the day, with scope for more or less if required. There are a few long but steady climbs, but with plenty of stops and opportunities for spotting, photography or simply enjoying the view. Generally good paths and tracks but may be wet or muddy in places. This walk should be achievable by any active walker. Please bring your own binoculars.
