New Year’s Day(ish) Bird Walk 2021

IT’S BACK!

Following the success of the first New Year’s Day Bird Walk back in 2020, we’re doing it again – sort of!

Join me on Spring Bank Holiday, Monday 31st May for a Covid-busting-lockdown-easing-roadmap-compliant bird-spotting walk around Wolverhampton’s Smestow Valley Local Nature Reserve.

Meet at 9:30am at the entrance to the former Wolverhampton Environmental Centre (WEC), off Westacre Crescent, WV3 9AR  for a 3hr (approx.) walk around the reserve, exploring different habitats and looking for birds and other wildlife. Last time we were lucky to spot a little egret, one of the reserve’s less common visitors. Can we top that this time? Maybe one of the valley’s resident kingfishers will put in an appearance!

Bring your own binoculars and drinks/snacks and dress according to the weather forecast. The reserve is likely to be muddy in places after rain so good boots are recommended.

Children under 16 are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult. Note that due to the nature of the event and in the interests of other participants’ enjoyment, noise must be kept to a minimum.

Attendance is FREE but booking is essential (if you have not booked, you will not be able to join us on the walk). In line with prevailing COVID guidelines, spaces are limited (20 max on this walk) and distancing measures will be adhered to throughout. If after booking you, anyone in your household or anyone you have significant contact with either develops Covid 19 symptoms, is contacted by the Track and Trace team and asked to self isolate, or is tested positive for Covid 19, please let us know asap. This way we can reallocate your place to someone else.

Book your space using the form below. Please submit a separate form for each attendee.
