New Year’s Day Bird Walk 2021

CANCELLED

IT’S BACK!

Following the success of the first New Year’s Day Bird Walk earlier this year, we’re doing it again!

Join me on New Year’s Day 2021 to walk off the Christmas excesses and blow away the cobwebs on a bird-spotting walk around Wolverhampton’s Smestow Valley Local Nature Reserve. Let’s make 2021 better than 2020 right from the outset (let’s face it, that shouldn’t be too hard)!

Meet at 10am at the entrance to the former Wolverhampton Environmental Centre (WEC), off Westacre Crescent, WV3 9AR  for a 3hr (approx.) walk around the reserve, exploring different habitats and looking for birds and other wildlife. Last time we were lucky to spot a little egret, one of the reserve’s less common visitors. Can we top that this time? Maybe one of the valley’s resident kingfishers will put in an appearance!

Bring your own binoculars and drinks/snacks and dress according to the weather forecast. The reserve is likely to be muddy in places so good boots or wellies are recommended.

Children under 16 are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult. Note that due to the nature of the event and in the interests of other participants’ enjoyment, noise must be kept to a minimum.

Attendance is FREE but booking is essential (if you have not booked, you will not be able to join us on the walk). In line with current COVID guidelines, spaces are limited (20 max on this walk) and distancing measures will be adhered to throughout. If after booking you, anyone in your household or anyone you have significant contact with either develops Covid 19 symptoms, is contacted by the Track and Trace team and asked to self isolate, or is tested positive for Covid 19, please let us know asap. This way we can reallocate your place to someone else.

Book your space using the form below. Please submit a separate form for each attendee.
