Scrambling, that grey area between hill walking and rock climbing where hands as well as feet are required to make upwards progress, is a thoroughly entertaining and involving way of making your way up a mountain. It can give a real mountaineering flavour to your day out, particularly if conditions are less than ideal. At the easier end of the scrambling spectrum, ‘grade 1’ scrambles are usually well within the capabilities of a fit and active walker possessing a reasonable head for heights and a keen sense of adventure.
If you want to know if scrambling is for you, join me on this one day beginners’ session, where you’ll learn and hone your skills on one of Snowdonia’s iconic routes, Moel Siabod by the Daear Ddu ridge.

Daear Ddu sits at the easier end of what constitutes a grade 1 scramble and is therefore the ideal first scramble for a beginner: exhilarating, entertaining, occasionally challenging but always escapable should the need arise.
Suitable for any active walker with a head for heights.
