The flora and fauna of Snowdonia

Starry saxifrage - Glyder Fawr

Can’t tell your bell heather from your cross-leaved heath? Don’t know one end of a meadow pipit from the other?

If you’ve ever wondered what that small brown bird or that little yellow flower is when out in the hills, join me on this flora and fauna spotting walk around one of Snowdonia’s nature hotspots, Cwm Idwal.

On this leisurely(ish!) saunter we’ll identify some of Snowdonia’s signature species and learn a little about them. Ideal for anyone interested in enhancing their days out on the hill with some general flora and fauna knowledge.

This walk is perfect for trainees undertaking the Mountain Training walking awards (Mountain Leader, Hill and Moorland Leader etc.)

Straightforward walking with minimal ascent. Mostly on paths but with frequent detours onto boggy or steep ground (gaiters recommended!) Suitable for any active walker.
