A classic circuit of Snowdonia’s two Glyders (Welsh – Y Glyderau), Glyder Fach and Glyder Fawr, visiting some of the most rugged scenery Snowdonia has to offer. Starting from beside the A5 in the Ogwen Valley, we’ll take a rising path through stunning surroundings up onto Glyder Fach. Here we’ll visit the famous Cantilever, a balanced flake of rock that provides a perfect photo opportunity, before clambering up to the rocky summit. We’ll then continue past the jagged outcrop of Castell y Gwynt (Castle of the Winds) before taking the short climb up to Glyder Fawr’s rocky moonscape summit plateau. Our descent will then take us down scree slopes to the head of the Devil’s Kitchen cliffs, where we’ll follow the path down an improbable ramp into the heart of this impressive rock scenery, passing below the ominous, dark cleft of Twll Du. A pleasant stroll around Llyn Idwal will then return us to the start.

A route of approx. 6miles/10km with 3300ft/1000m of ascent through rugged terrain, over uneven paths and rocky mountain tops. Some loose scree. No actual scrambling, but hands may be required occasionally to negotiate short sections of rocky terrain.  Good level of fitness required. Walk duration approx. 5-7 hours.
