“Have you got what it takes to walk the Snowdon Rollercoaster?”
Starting from the town of Llanberis, we’ll tackle Snowdon the long way round on this challenging day out: We’ll first climb to the outlying peak of Moel Eilio, before traversing a rollercoaster ride of miniature mountains on the way up to the main summit. After a well earned lunch on the top, we’ll nip over to neighbouring Carnedd Ugain, before it’s downhill (mostly!) all the way back into Llanberis. We’ll descend the unaccountably quiet Llanberis ridge, where you’ll be overlooking the mountain railway and busy tourist track and be accompanied by extensive views into the awesome trench of the Llanberis pass all the way down. Then what better way to end a tough but satisfying day in the hills than a well-deserved drink or three in one of Llanberis’ many hostelries?!
This is a challenging walk of approx. 15miles/24km, involving a thigh-busting 5500ft/1700m of height gain, first over domed grassy summits then over rocky mountain tops, ending with a long descent down a grassy ridge. A high level of fitness is required. Walk duration approx. 7-10 hours.
